Spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed that a self-acclaim professor, Solomon Tafa, who operates the home, has been arrested.

The police in Kano has uncovered an illegal orphanage home suspected to be involved in child trafficking and rescued 27 children alleged to have been kidnapped or born for trafficking from the home known as Du Merci Orphanage.

Spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed to Channels Television that a self-acclaim professor, Solomon Tafa, who operates the home, has been arrested.

He said, “We were able to rescue nine children here, after the arrest; he was not able to present any document that shows how these children are being sourced.”

DSP Haruna also revealed that the suspect, Tafa, works alongside a hospital that helps him take care of the pregnant women before and after delivery.

He added, “He procures pregnant women, gives them all the necessary ante-natal attention and care. After delivery, he then hands over the newly born babies to the owner of the orphanage home.”

Meanwhile, Channels Television, in a bid to ascertain the suspects claim, was informed by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Kano, Zahra’u Umar-Muhammad, that the suspect was yet to register with the ministry and there was no record showing the existence of any Du Merci Children Home in the state.

The police said that investigation was ongoing and the children are now in the custody of the Kano State Children’s home, while the alleged baby-making factory remains under lock and key.

The Kano Sharia Police best known as Hisbah have raided a party allegedly organized by Homosexuals to celebrates their togetherness.

The Sharia law enforcement operatives invaded a compound located at Sabuwar-Gandu quarters in Kano metropolis, where the suspected homosexuals were arrested, prior to the commencement of the planned party.

Our Reporter gathered that the organizers of the party were new grandaunts who planned the party to commemorate their graduation from a tertiary institution.

Each of them was said to have invited their same sex partners to the event.

A senior HISBAH commander, Mallam Tasiu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspected same sex party organizers, disclosed that over 50 gays were involved and arrested.

He said intelligence reports gathered by Hisbah operatives led to the arrest of the suspects, noting that other suspected persons were still at large.

According to him, the suspects are currently undergoing reorientation programmes, according to the teaching of Islam that provides the Hisbah to Counsel such kind of attitudes before taking them to Court or otherwise.

The source revealed that the remains of the dead soldiers were taken to Sector 3 headquarters in Monguno.

Boko Haram terrorists have ambushed a military convoy along the Maiduguri/ Monguno highway, and reportedly killed at least eight soldiers, carting away weapons belonging to the Nigerian Army, a security source said.

The incident happened at Gasarwa village, some distance to Gajiram in Nganzai LGA of Borno State at about 10 am, Daily Trust reports.

Four military vehicles were burned.

According to the source, five soldiers were missing after the heavy gun battle.

“They were ambushed around the Gasarwa general area on Gajiram-Monguno road, the troops were from Monguno heading to Maiduguri before the incident happened. So far, eight soldiers have been confirmed dead and five are missing.

“The insurgents engaged the troops with Rocket-Propelled Grenades and small arms. Before the arrival of our troops from Monguno and the air support, the Boko Haram members had withdrawn with lots of weapons. They burned three gun trucks belonging to the army,” Daily Trust quoted the security source as saying.

The source revealed that the remains of the dead soldiers were taken to Sector 3 headquarters in Monguno.

Sector 3 Commander, Maj. Gen. Bulama Biu, and some troops visited the ambush scene on a search-and-rescue mission.

A movement restriction order from Monguno to Maiduguri was imposed as passengers going to Maiduguri by road were stranded.

A final year Accounting student of the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Nigeria, Ajayi Samuel otherwise called ‘Preacher’ has been shot dead by suspected rival cultists.

According to reports, some cultists had stormed the school during the final students signing out yesterday and shot sporadically in the air before leaving.

However, they returned and trailed Samuel said to be an only child to a canteen where he had gone to eat.

While stepping out of the canteen, they shot him in the neck, killing him instantly.

Immediately the news of his death got home, his dad and mom rushed to the scene crying.

His body has since been evacuated by the police.
